August Update
Hello Magical Humans!
We are about to enter the wind tunnel of eclipse season. Oh wow. That was dramatic. Pardon me, I didn’t mean to sound like a weather lady telling you that we are about to experience a bomb cyclone or an atmospheric river. I am actually rolling my eyes at myself. Let me start over: who wants to do some character building?!
Probably obvious: not my real muscles.
Let me start with the opening act: the first eclipse occurs August 12th at 10:37am PDT. You are probably feeling the build up. Maybe you are feeling extra sensitive and low energy. Maybe your kids are crying over every little thing. Maybe you want to burrow into the couch even though it is still summer, and that’s your winter MO? Note: My dachshunds just gave me a side eye to say that burrowing in the couch is a year round sport.
All of these sensations and behaviors are normal leading up to any new moon (this is a new moon in Leo), but it all gets amplified by 10X when it is an eclipse. If you are born between:
March 29, 1952 – October 9, 1953
November 3 1970 – April 27, 1972
May 23, 1989 – November 18, 1990
December 19, 2007 – August 21, 2009
This is an especially significant time for you, as you will experience a nodal return between now and March 2028. A nodal return is when the nodes of the moon return to the placement that you were born under and takes place roughly every 18 to 19 years. This is the beginning of a new growth cycle for you. The dates listed above are associated with a north node in Aquarius. If you have this placement, you are here to wave your freak flag, innovate, and create change in the area of your life that your north node resides in. A simplified way to look at your north node is: your dharma… at least it is the western adaptation of dharma that speaks to your soul’s evolutionary direction. It is a bit uncomfortable and unfamiliar, but following this path yields soul growth.
You will also feel a deep impact if you are born between:
June 10, 1961, to December 22, 1962
January 6, 1980, to September 24, 1981
October 20, 1998, to April 9, 2000
May 10, 2017, to November 6, 2018
If you were born during these dates, you have a Leo north node. You came here to shine, create, lead, and embody your inner child in the area of life that your north node falls in. You will be experiencing a nodal opposition between now and March 2028, a check in that will show you where you are nailing it with that goal and what needs to go in order to keep growing.
This eclipse will be a south node eclipse, and what that means for all of us as a collective, is that we are releasing any patterns and behaviors associated with the less resourced aspects of the Leo archetype. Where do you find yourself needing external validation to feel worthy? Does the need to be right keep you from connecting heart to heart with others? Where in your life are you performing rather than showing up as your authentic self? Are there areas in your life with excess drama that drains your life force? Do you play small because you are afraid of what others will think of you?
The south node, you might have guessed, is analogous to your karma (again, western definition). These are your deeply ingrained patterns and tendencies honed over lifetimes that can show up as gifts or knee jerk reactions. The gifts held in a Leo south node may look like natural charisma, playfulness, courage, generosity, and leadership.
So, as we move through this eclipse season (between August 12th and August 27th), notice where these themes show up for you. If you do not have your nodes in Aquarius and Leo, you will still feel these themes. This is also a great time to get reacquainted with your own nodal axis, and revisit your own growth edge (north node) and well of experience (south node).
